Problems and Solutions
Submission Instructions
We invite readers to submit original problems and to submit solutions to problems that have appeared recently in the Monthly. Problem proposals must be accompanied by solutions and any bibliographical information that will assist in their review. Submitted problems should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All contributions should be written in a style appropriate for publication in the Monthly.
We encourage electronic submissions of both problems and solutions as PDF files, accompanied, when applicable, by TeX/LaTeX source files. Please use the appropriate form below to send us your problem or solution.
To submit a problem, click on "Problem Proposal" below.
To submit a solution to problem x, click on "Solution to Problem x" below.
Sign-in Instructions
If you are a first-time user of Submittable.com, click on the category that describes your submission. A form will appear that will enable you to register as a user. On subsequent occasions, use the link labeled "click here to sign in now" at the bottom of the page in order to log in to your user account.
Follow the instructions to complete the web form and upload your Primary File and applicable Secondary Files. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page to send us your contribution and receive a confirmation message by e-mail. You may use the optional field "Message to the editor" to send us a note.
Classics are problems of unusual elegance that are not new but deserve to be better known. We solicit contributions of Classic problems from readers, who should include the problem statement, solution, and references with their submission.
We will not be soliciting or publishing reader solutions to Classic problems.
- Problem submissions should be accompanied by solutions and any bibliographical information that will assist in their review.
- Submitted problems must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
